We supply mortise lock cases for interior doors in four functions and seven finishes, with the face plate colour matched to our handles and rosettes. The function is what you pick first: it decides what the door can do. The centres decide whether the lock fits the door you already have.
Measure these before you order
- Centres, from the spindle to the key or cylinder. A latch lock has none, a lever key sits at 56 mm, a euro profile cylinder at 55 mm, a bathroom turn at 63 mm.
- Follower hole: 8 mm. All four functions take the standard 8 mm square spindle used by our handles.
- Bathroom turn pin: 8 mm. The 63/8 designation means 63 mm centres with an 8 mm turn pin.
- Face plate. Compare the existing mortise in your door stile before ordering, so the new case drops into the same slot.
Which function do you need?
A latch lock only holds the door shut. It is what you want on a hallway, bedroom or connecting door where nothing needs locking, and it is the simplest case in the range.
The three locking versions differ only in what passes through the middle. The lever key at 56 mm suits traditional doors and a plain key. The euro cylinder at 55 mm is the modern standard and lets you key several doors alike. The bathroom lock at 63/8 has a thumb turn inside and an emergency release outside.
Our advice: use latch locks everywhere the door does not need to lock, euro cylinder PC55 for any door that does, and keep the bathroom 63/8 for bathrooms and separate toilets.
Finishes
- Brushed stainless steel. The default for interior use, corrosion resistant and low maintenance.
- Matt black and bronze. Coated finishes that hold their colour. Bronze is lacquered and does not patinate.
- Gunmetal, gold, rose gold and champagne PVD. Vacuum bonded coatings that resist scratching in daily use.
Frequently asked questions
Is a cylinder included with the PC55 lock? No. Pick a cylinder whose length matches your door thickness plus any plates on the faces.
Can I replace only the lock case and keep my handles? Yes, as long as your handles use an 8 mm spindle and the centres match the function you choose.
Which lock does a toilet door need? The bathroom version, 63/8, so the door can be opened from outside in an emergency.
Do the locks come with a frame plate? The face plate is on the lock itself. Matching frame plates are listed separately.
Does the finish match my handles? Yes. The same seven finishes run through the handles, rosettes, knobs and hinges.
