We supply ball bearing hinges for interior doors in two sizes and seven finishes, all with rounded corners. The bearings take the weight of the swing, so the door stays quiet and does not need oiling. Getting the size and the corner shape right is what decides whether the hinge drops into your existing cut-out.
Measure the cut-out, not the door
- 89 x 89 mm. The most common size on interior doors, and the one to try first.
- 76 x 76 mm. The smaller standard, used on lighter and narrower doors.
- Rounded corners. Every hinge here has radiused corners. If your existing recess has square corners, the hinge will not sit flush without reworking the recess.
- How many. Two hinges on a standard interior door, three on a heavier or taller one. These are sold per piece, so order what the door needs.
Why ball bearings
A plain butt hinge runs metal on metal, which is where the squeak and the gradual wear come from. A ball bearing between the knuckles carries the load instead, so the door swings smoothly, stays quiet and the hinge lasts longer without lubrication.
The difference is most obvious on heavier doors and on doors that get used dozens of times a day, which is where a cheap hinge starts to complain first.
Our advice: measure the height, width and corner shape of the current recess before ordering. If it reads 89 x 89 mm with rounded corners, you can swap one for one with no routing at all.
Finishes
- Brushed stainless steel. Strong, corrosion resistant and effectively maintenance free.
- Matt black and bronze. Coated finishes that keep an even colour. Bronze is lacquered and does not patinate.
- Gunmetal, gold, rose gold and champagne PVD. Vacuum bonded coatings, harder than plating.

Do they need oiling? No. The bearing removes the metal on metal contact that makes lubrication necessary.
Can I fit 76 x 76 mm in an 89 x 89 mm recess? Not without filling and re-routing. Match the size to the recess.
