We supply sprung lever handles for interior doors in nine designs and seven finishes, either on a slim round rosette or on a backplate with the lock function built in. The first choice is which of those two you need. The second is a measurement: what your existing lock case expects.
Measure these three things first
- Spindle: 8 mm. Every handle in this range uses the standard 8 mm square spindle, so it fits any lock case with an 8 mm follower hole.
- Door thickness: 38 to 50 mm. Inside that range the supplied fixings are long enough. Thicker doors need a longer spindle, which is a separate order.
- Centres: 55 mm or 56 mm. Measure from the centre of the spindle hole to the centre of the cylinder or keyhole on your current lock. A euro profile cylinder sits at 55 mm, a classic lever key at 56 mm, a bathroom turn at 63 mm.
Rosette or backplate?
A rosette is a Ø 53 mm disc, only 6 mm thick, with a separate rosette for the keyhole or cylinder. It shows very little hardware, which suits flush modern doors, and it lets you mix functions per door without changing the handle.
A backplate is one piece, 245 x 45 x 10 mm, carrying both the handle and the lock opening. It covers older cut-outs and wear marks, and it is a single fixing job. The bore centres matter here: our oval Cornisa plates need 200 mm between the holes, the Fortis plates 215 mm.
Our advice: choose the rosette version for new or refurbished doors, and the backplate version when you are replacing older hardware and want the existing holes covered.
Finishes and what to expect
- Brushed stainless steel. Will not corrode indoors and shows fingerprints far less than a polished surface.
- Matt black. A powder coated finish with a deep, even colour. It is hard wearing but can chip if a sharp edge is struck.
- Bronze. A warm dark tone under a protective lacquer. It is a coated finish, so it holds its colour and does not patinate with age.
- Gunmetal, gold, rose gold and champagne PVD. PVD is vacuum bonded to the metal, so it is considerably harder than plating and keeps its colour in daily use.
Frequently asked questions
What is in the box? A set for one door, so both sides, with the spindle and fixing screws included. Cylinders and lock cases are ordered separately.
Can I use these on a door without a lock? Yes. Choose the blind version, which has no keyhole or cylinder opening.
Are the handles left and right handed? No. Every model mounts on either hand, so one product code covers both.
Is a cylinder included with the PC55 version? No. Order the cylinder to suit your door thickness plus the 10 mm plate on each side.
Will the handle droop over time? Each handle has a return spring in the rosette or plate, so the lever stays level.
Can I match other hardware to these? Yes. Our hinges, rosettes, mortise locks and door knobs are finished in the same seven colours.
